Samantha turned 7 last Thursday! I can scarcely believe that so much time has passed since the day she was born. I spent this year’s 4th of July weekend reminiscing about the last few days leading up to her birth on July 6th. Here is some of that story…
At my 38-week pregnancy checkup back in 1999, Dr. Kubby said that things were starting to happen (I’ll spare you squeamish ones the details) and expressed that she didn’t expect me to last the weekend. Independence Day came and went, with some disappointment since I’d hoped for a July 4th baby. I now know that Samantha has enough of a fireworks personality that to have been born on Independence Day would have been redundant. Or catastrophic, LOL. July 4, 1999 was a Sunday, so Ben and I were both off on Monday, July 5. We watched a movie right before bed-time, and I probably fell asleep (as usual). Just as I was dragging my over-sized tummy to bed, bemoaning the fact that I would have to wake up and go to work the next day, my water broke! Our first daughter arrived at 8:35 AM on Tuesday, July 6, 1999. And the rest is history.
Here is a link to a slideshow that I did for her.
