No Mom is an island

I love my kids. LOVE them. Unequivocally. But I have to admit that every so often (too often perhaps) I do have days where I feel like running screaming over the side of a cliff. On days like these, I call in the big guns…in the person of my friend Leti. She is a true friend (and Mom to the adorable, dimpled Anthony with whom Megan is smitten), one with whom I can talk on the phone for hours and not run out of things to say. Above all, she is always there to sympathize and encourage me. On the bad Mommy days (like yesterday when just the mere sound of a tiny voice was like sandpaper to my ears) she convinces me that it is all OK. We laugh over stories of naughty kid behavior and sibling rows and play, “You would not believe what my kid did today!” until the tears turn from sorrow to laughter and it all doesn’t feel so bad. I am blessed and honored to call her my friend, and I know that I couldn't make it through the bad Mommy days without her.
