Most evenings are total chaos at our house. If everything goes well, I can get the girls to settle down before Ben gets home, but the hours leading up to his arrival are generally hectic and often fraught with tears (sometimes mine!).
Last night was quite different. The girls got along well, and I was able to get them bathed, homework done, and dinner on the table with little fanfare. I even managed to talk with a client in between. By the time Ben got home, I was working on my client's resume and the girls were quietly drawing and coloring pictures at the dining table. Amazing! I don't know how or why things went smoothly, but I'm so grateful that they did. I couldn't let this rare peaceful evening to pass without noting it.
Here are two pictures the girls drew. First Samantha's "Poem to Mom":
Now Megan's which she described as, "Jesus in the tomb...well actually a mountain tomb." Hence the jagged edges towards the top, I figured.
